Homer Simpson & Productivity? The two certainly don't go together! Well that's why this post. Today we will reveal what you are doing wrong!

Okay. We know that you want to get more productive. We all do , right? But then, we are also human. So it is but obvious that despite the best of our intentions we still slack. Let's accept it guys. None of us is born to be super efficient , highly productive , khaman-sieze-the-day types.

But..but if we want to get somewhere in life, be happy and just get better- WE HAVE TO ACHIEVE THE MOST OF OUR DAY AS WE CAN. Nobody likes to be called lazy, sloppy and just bleh.

We all want to be the best version of ourselves as possible.

So what should you do to get there? Buy all those expensive time management books that will give you all different jargons and at the same time make you feel miserable about yourself? Stream video after video on Youtube and still feel bored to implement? Or attend all hi-fi workshops which will fill you up with planners and workbooks and exercises?

All these seem effective enough. But many a times , it's all simple ticks and tricks which do magic on our minds and Bam! Productivity Unleashed.

Now as dancers, we too have many things to do. Attend rehearsals. Take classes. Personal training. Sit and plan choreography for performances and so many other things. Hence we also have to take certain steps to increase our productivity and get the most of our day.

Any profession demands this. And whatever we are going to tell you applies to ANYONE & EVERYONE. No matter what work you do.

HERE ARE THE 5 THINGS YOU NEED TO STOP DOING TODAY TO CREATE A PRODUCTIVE YOU

(don't get all tensed up now, you saw the image above? we will simply elaborate on that)

1. HELLO MOTIVATION, WHERE ART THOU?

You might want to sit all day thinking for that inspirational moment to hit you. It will probably NEVER come. Just get your act together and dive into whatever that is you want to do.

For eg. You want to get that sexy slim body. STOP moping on your slow metabolism & lack of any motivation. Go to internet, just select any workout video you like and START. It's THAT SIMPLE.

2. BEAT YOURSELF UP.

So you can't wake up at 5 am brighter than sunshine. But everyone tells you to become an early riser. It definitely is an excellent habit to have. But if you are not able to do the same, don't feel down in the dumps. Whenever you arise, just say "It's Ok" and get on with your day. Don't beat yourself up for snoozing off that alarm.

All the same, If you really want to become an early riser, There a few tips that can help you.

  • Download apps like ALARM CLOCK PLUS, ALARM CLOCK XTREME FREE +TIMER. They have math problems you have to solve to switch off that blasted alarm.Not many of us love math, do we?
  • The minute you wake up just splash cold water on your face. It will open up your mind and those groggy eyes.
  • You can just put on some music and try walking around the house for about 10 minutes to awaken your body.

3. PLAN? WHAT PLAN...MEH

Alright , Planning is definitely one of those big words which most of us get intimated by. But hang on. This one is really good for you. For any program or person to function in order a plan is essential. School time-tables, schedule of TV serials, your swimming lessons- everything has a schedule.

In the same way, so should your day. If planning the entire day in detail feels like an improbable task, START SMALL.

Just make a list of 5 important things you have to accomplish on that day. You will have to spend about 20 minutes in thinking and prioritizing stuff. Oh come on , that is an easy enough time window you can have.

4. EXERCISE? CAN'T SOMEONE ELSE JUST DO IT?

But you would say, I walk to the coffee machine everyday to fill a cuppa for myself. Well that doesn't count. Stop living in a delusional world. WE ALL NEED SOME FORM OF EXERCISE. If you DON'T want to end up in your 40's with a pot belly and wobbly knees, START TODAY.

Take up any activity you like. Walking, Running, Swimming, Yoga, Gymming, A Sport, Pilates, Dance- the world could be your oyster. With the internet at your finger tips you CANNOT say you don't know HOW TO. Spare at least 30 minutes every day for your OWN BODY.

You SIMPLY CANNOT increase your productivity when your own self is feeling all dull.

5. MIND ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Do you take pride in being The Awesome Multitask-er? WELL, DON'T. You are not helping yourself. Instead of juggling different things at one time, FOCUS ON ONE THING. It will UP your productivity manifold.

Choose one thing at a time and focus on that.

You may feel watching your favourite series while finishing that Presentation will help you fight the monotony. Unfortunately, you are only wasting time. Rather finish your work first and then reward yourself later. It will keep you motivated.

CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU ARE NOW FULLY EQUIPPED TO UNLEASH THE PRODUCTIVE YOU (Imagine Homer's voice when you say it out loud)

Although we all love Homer Simpson, accept it guys, he is not really the model of productive awesomeness. Sadly, you can't follow him in real life.

Well fellas, these are 5 pointers you could follow to get your productivity & efficiency peaking. There are a lot more you can do. But why don't we start slow ? :)

Gradually when you start to realise what works, you can experiment and try different things that help you.

And yeah, don't get flustered if you haven't reached there yet. A first step is all it takes.

YOU CAN DO IT. WE ALL CAN.
